How to record your screen online

Record your screen, a window or a browser tab with system audio, a microphone voice-over and your webcam in a movable bubble, or record just the camera. Afterwards the built-in studio adds smooth auto zoom on the action and AI captions generated on your device, and trims the clip before saving an MP4. No install, no sign-up, no watermark and no time limit; the recording never leaves your computer.

Click Start recording and your browser asks what to share: an entire screen, an application window or a single tab. After the countdown, recording starts and a timer, file size and microphone level meter appear. Pause and resume whenever you like and press Stop & save (or the browser's own Stop sharing button) when you are done. The recording appears right away for review.

Detailed guide

Add your webcam as a bubble

Choose Screen + cam and your camera appears as a bubble on the preview. Pick a circle, rounded or square shape, a size from S to XL, a corner or any position (drag it, even while recording), mirroring and a border. In Chrome and Edge the bubble is drawn straight into the video, so it records smoothly whichever tab or app you switch to, with no extension. In other browsers it opens as a floating window that is captured with your screen.

Auto zoom and AI captions

When you stop, the recording opens in a built-in studio. Detect zoom moments analyses the video for places where the action is concentrated (the cursor moving, clicks, typing, menus opening) and adds smooth zoom-ins there, the polished look of Screen Studio-style tools. Click anywhere on the preview to add or re-aim a zoom by hand. Generate captions transcribes your voice with Whisper running on your own device, so the audio never leaves your computer, and burns the captions in one of six styles. Web browsers do not reveal mouse clicks made outside the page, which is why zooms follow on-screen activity rather than click events.

Recording sound: system audio and microphone

Turn on Tab / system audio to capture the sound of a video, game or call; in Chrome and Edge tick Share audio in the sharing dialog (tab audio works everywhere, full system audio on Windows and ChromeOS). Turn on Microphone voice-over to narrate, choose which microphone to use and raise its volume if your voice is quiet. Both sources are mixed into one track.

Quality settings

Native records at your screen's resolution; 1080p or 720p keep files smaller and are ideal for tutorials. 60 fps makes scrolling, games and mouse movement look smooth, 30 fps is enough for slides. The File size setting chooses the bitrate: Best for crisp text, Balanced for most recordings, Small for long meetings.

Trim and save as MP4

Browsers record in WebM, which some apps cannot open and which often lacks a proper duration. Save as MP4 converts the take to H.264 so it plays on Windows, Mac, iPhone, WhatsApp and every editor, and can trim the start and end at the same time. Prefer WebM? The fixed WebM option repairs the duration so it seeks properly. You can also keep the raw file.

Frequently asked questions

Is this screen recorder really free with no watermark?

Yes. There is no watermark, no time limit and no account. The video is created and saved on your computer.

Can I record my screen and webcam at the same time?

Yes. Choose Screen + cam, open the camera bubble, then record your entire screen; the floating bubble is captured with the screen.

How do I record system or tab audio?

Turn on Tab / system audio and, in Chrome or Edge, tick Share audio in the sharing dialog. Firefox and Safari cannot capture system audio.

Can I save the recording as MP4?

Yes. Click Save as MP4 to convert it to H.264, which plays on every device. You can trim it at the same time.

Is there a time limit?

No. Recordings are only limited by your computer's memory; for very long sessions choose 720p or the Small file size.

How does auto zoom work?

After recording, Detect zoom moments finds where on-screen activity is concentrated (cursor, clicks, typing, menus) and zooms in smoothly there. You can also click the preview to add or re-aim zooms by hand.

Can it add captions automatically?

Yes. Generate captions runs Whisper speech recognition on your own device (the model downloads once, about 41 MB) and burns the captions into the exported MP4.

Does it work on phones?

Mobile browsers do not allow screen capture, but Camera mode works on phones and tablets.

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser until you download it.
