A time tracker that doesn't need an account

A free time tracker that works like a lightweight Toggl or Clockify, without an account. Type what you're working on and press Start (or Ctrl + Enter); the timer keeps counting through reloads and closed tabs because it measures from the start time. Add time you've already worked with a start and end time or a quick duration like 1h30m, group entries by project and client, and give each project its own hourly rate. The weekly timesheet, date-range reports, billing rounding and CSV or printable exports turn the log into invoices and timesheets in a couple of clicks. Everything stays in your browser.

Most time-tracking apps start with a sign-up form and a team workspace. This one starts with a text box and a Start button. It covers what a solo worker or small team member actually needs: a reliable timer, manual entries for the time you forgot to track, projects with clients and rates, a weekly timesheet and reports you can export. Because all of it is stored in your browser, nothing about your clients or hours ever leaves your device, and it keeps working without an internet connection once the page has loaded.

  • Live start/stop timer that survives reloads, closed tabs and sleep (it measures from the start time)

  • Manual entries by start and end time, or by duration: 1h30m, 1:30, 90m or 1.5
  • Edit, duplicate, delete with undo, and one-click “continue” to restart a past task
  • Tags, billable / non-billable flag and search across tasks, tags and projects
  • Weekly timesheet grid: projects by day with daily and weekly totals, any week

  • Daily hours goal with progress, plus this-week tracked, billable and earned totals

How to use Time Log: Track Time Effectively

  1. 1

    Start the timer

Type what you're working on, pick or create a project, and press Start or Ctrl + Enter. The tab title shows the running time so you can see it from other tabs.

  2. 2

    Set up projects and rates

Choose “+ New project” to add a project with an optional client and hourly rate. Projects without a rate use the default rate from Settings.

  3. 3

Add time you forgot to track

Press “Add time manually”, pick the date and enter a start and end time, or switch to Duration and type something like 1h30m.

  4. 4

    Fix or reuse entries

Edit any entry, duplicate it, or press play to start the same task again. Deleted entries can be undone for a few seconds.

  5. 5

    Review your week

Open Timesheet for a projects-by-day grid with totals, and move back or forward a week at a time.

  6. 6

    Report and invoice

In Reports pick a date range and project, then export a CSV with rates and amounts or print a clean report (choose Save as PDF to keep it).

  7. 7

    Back up your log

Settings → Backup saves everything as JSON so you can restore it later or move it to another browser.

Detailed guide

A timer you can trust

Browser timers often drift or stop when a tab sleeps. This tracker saves the moment you pressed Start and calculates elapsed time from it, so the count is exact even if you close the tab, restart the computer or come back the next morning. Starting a new timer while one is running saves the previous one as an entry automatically, and the running task and project can still be edited while the clock ticks.

Logging time manually

Retroactive entries are where most time is lost, so manual entry accepts whatever is quickest: a start and end time (entries that cross midnight are handled), or a duration typed the way you'd say it. All of these formats work:

You typeLogged as
1h30m or 1h 301 hour 30 minutes
1:301 hour 30 minutes
90m or 901 hour 30 minutes
1.5 or 1.5h1 hour 30 minutes
45m45 minutes

Billable hours and rounding

Mark each entry billable or not and set an hourly rate per project. Many contracts bill in increments, so Settings lets you round each billable entry up to the nearest increment. Tracked time always stays exact; only amounts, billable hours and exports use the rounded value. Common conventions:

6 minutes (0.1 h)Law firms, consultants12 minutes
15 minutes (0.25 h)Agencies, freelancers15 minutes

Timesheets and reports

The Timesheet tab lays out one week as a grid: one row per project, one column per day, with totals on both edges, ready to copy into a payroll or client portal or export as CSV. Reports cover any range from today to all time and show tracked, billable and earned totals, a stacked bar chart of hours per day, a breakdown by project and your top tasks. The CSV export includes date, start and end time, project, client, description, tags, duration, billable hours after rounding, rate and amount, and the printable report can be saved as a PDF to attach to an invoice.

Frequently asked questions

Is this time tracker really free with no signup?

Yes. There is no account, no trial and no limit on projects or entries. Everything is stored in your browser's local storage.

Does the timer keep running if I close the tab or reload?

Yes. The tracker saves the moment you pressed Start and calculates elapsed time from it, so the count stays exact after reloads, closed tabs, sleep or a restart.

How do I add time I forgot to track?

Press “Add time manually”, choose the date, and enter a start and end time or a duration such as 1h30m, 1:30, 90m or 1.5. Entries that cross midnight are handled correctly.

Can each project have its own hourly rate?

Yes. Give a project its own rate and client name. Projects without a rate use the default rate from Settings, and earnings are calculated per entry.

How does billable time rounding work?

In Settings choose to round each billable entry up to the nearest 1, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Tracked time stays exact; amounts, billable hours and exports use the rounded value.

Can I see a weekly timesheet?

Yes. The Timesheet tab shows projects by day for any week with daily and weekly totals, and exports it as CSV.

What reports are available?

Pick today, yesterday, this or last week, this or last month, this year, all time or a custom range, optionally for one project. You get tracked, billable and earned totals, hours per day, a project breakdown and top tasks.

Can I export to Excel or PDF?

Export a CSV that opens in Excel or Google Sheets with dates, times, projects, clients, durations, rates and amounts, or print the report and choose Save as PDF.

Can I show hours in decimal format for payroll?

Yes. Switch the duration format in Settings from 1h 30m to 1.50h.

Is there a keyboard shortcut?

Ctrl + Enter (Cmd + Enter on Mac) starts and stops the timer from anywhere on the page.

How do I move my data to another computer?

Use Settings → Backup to download a JSON file, then Restore backup in the other browser.

Is my client and time data private?

Yes. Nothing is uploaded to a server. Clearing your browser data removes it, so keep a backup if the log matters.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, the timer, entries and reports all work without an internet connection.
