What is the Life in Weeks calendar?+
It's a grid where every box represents one week of your life, 52 per year, from birth to your chosen life expectancy. The weeks you've lived are filled in and this week is highlighted, giving a powerful visual sense of how you spend your time.
How many weeks are in a life?+
A 90-year life is roughly 4,680 weeks (90 × 52). You can slide the life expectancy from 40 to 120 years and the grid recalculates the total weeks instantly.
Is this based on Tim Urban's 'Your Life in Weeks'?+
Yes, it's inspired by that well-known chart, but made interactive: enter your own birthday, colour your life eras, pin milestones, and download the result.
Can I colour-code different periods of my life?+
Yes. Define life eras by age range, such as childhood, university, career and retirement, each with its own colour, and the grid shades every week to match.
Can I add my own milestones?+
Yes. Add key dates like a graduation, wedding or move and they're pinned on the exact week they occurred (in the weeks view).
Can I download or print it?+
Yes. Export a high-resolution PNG that's ideal for printing as a poster, adding to a journal, or using as a wallpaper.
Does it also show months or years?+
Yes. Switch between a weeks, months or years grid, and adjust the cell size to fit your screen or print.
Is my personal data kept private?+
Completely. Your birthday, eras and milestones stay in your browser and are never uploaded, so the whole thing is private by design.
Is it free?+
Yes, it's 100% free with no signup and no limits.
How many weeks have I lived?+
Enter your date of birth and the calendar instantly counts the exact number of weeks you've lived and highlights this week. It also shows your age, days lived, and the percentage of your chosen life expectancy so far.
How many summers or weekends do I have left?+
The 'your life in numbers' panel estimates weekends, summers and even full moons remaining, based on your birthday and life expectancy (roughly one weekend per week and about 12.37 full moons a year). They're honest estimates for perspective, not predictions.
Can I set my life expectancy from my country's average?+
Yes. Pick a country from the dropdown to load its average life expectancy (rounded World Bank/UN figures for reference), or drag the slider anywhere from 40 to 120 years for a custom number.
Does it save my calendar automatically?+
Yes. Your birthday, eras, milestones and display settings are autosaved in your browser's local storage, so your calendar is exactly as you left it next time, and it still never leaves your device.
Can I share my Life in Weeks calendar?+
Yes. The 'Share link' button copies a URL that reopens your date of birth, life expectancy and view for whoever you send it to, so they see the same calendar you built.
Can I print it as a poster?+
Yes. Use the Print button for a clean, controls-free printout, or download the high-resolution PNG (which includes your era legend) and print it at any size for a wall poster.
Can I choose dots instead of squares, or a dark grid?+
Yes. Switch between square or circular cells, a light or dark grid theme, and six accent colours, then resize the cells to fit your screen or your print size.
What does 'memento mori' have to do with this?+
Memento mori means 'remember you must die', an old idea for using the awareness of limited time to live more intentionally. Seeing your whole life as a finite grid of weeks is a modern, visual take on it.
Does changing my birthday or life expectancy update everything?+
Instantly. The grid, stats, progress bar, life-in-numbers and milestone positions all recalculate the moment you change your date of birth, life expectancy, or view.
