From a plain list to a study deck in seconds

A free flashcard maker and study tool in one. Add cards by hand or paste a whole list of terms and definitions, then switch to study mode to flip through a 3D-animated card, hear each side read aloud, shuffle the deck, and mark cards as learned or needs-review. Focus on just the cards you haven't mastered, drive everything from the keyboard, export your deck to CSV, or print double-sided cut-out cards. Your deck is saved in your browser automatically.

The fastest way to build a deck is to paste one you already have. Copy a column of terms and definitions from a document or spreadsheet, drop it into Bulk import, and the maker splits each line on the first comma, tab, dash, or colon into a front and back. From there you can edit any card, add more, export the whole deck to CSV, and give it a name, it all saves in your browser as you go, so nothing is lost if you close the tab.

Features

  • Quick card editor with unlimited front/back cards
  • Bulk import: paste 'term, definition' lines (comma, tab, dash or colon)
  • Study mode with a real 3D flip animation and progress bar
  • Keyboard shortcuts: arrows navigate, Space flips, K/J grade, S speaks
  • Text-to-speech pronunciation in 7 languages, ideal for vocabulary
  • Spaced study: focus on unlearned cards, then reset progress anytime
  • Shuffle the deck and reverse it (answers first)
  • Export to CSV and a double-sided, alignment-mirrored PDF
  • Auto-saves your deck locally, no signup, nothing uploaded

Detailed guide

Study smarter with flip animation, audio, and spaced tracking

Active recall: trying to remember the answer before you flip, is one of the most effective ways to learn, and the study mode is built around it. Tap or press Space to spin a real 3D card, mark whether you got it or need to review, and turn on 'unlearned only' so each pass drills the cards you keep missing. Language learners can press the speaker (or the S key) to hear either side read aloud in one of seven languages, and every action has a keyboard shortcut so you can drill at speed without touching the mouse.

Print double-sided cards that actually line up

When you prefer paper, print mode lays out a fronts sheet and a mirrored backs sheet per page, so when you print double-sided (flipping on the short edge) each answer lands on the back of the right question. The PDF export gives you a clean copy to cut out and study anywhere, no account, no watermark, nothing uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make flashcards online for free?

Add cards in the editor or paste a list of terms and definitions with Bulk import, name your deck, then switch to Study mode to flip through them. It's free with no signup.

Can I import a list of terms?

Yes. Paste one card per line and separate the front from the back with a comma, tab, dash, or colon, the maker turns each line into a card automatically. You can also export the deck back out to CSV.

Can the flashcards be read aloud?

Yes. In study mode press the speaker button (or the S key) to hear either side pronounced using your browser's text-to-speech, with a language selector covering English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese and Chinese, handy for vocabulary drills.

Can I study only the cards I haven't learned?

Yes. Grade each card 'Got it' or 'Review', then turn on 'Study only unlearned cards' so every pass focuses on what you keep missing. Reset progress whenever you want a clean start.

Are there keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. In study mode the left/right arrows navigate, Space or Enter flips the card, K marks it learned, J sends it to review, and S speaks the visible side, so you can drill without the mouse.

Can I print my flashcards double-sided?

Yes. Print mode exports a PDF with a fronts sheet and a mirrored backs sheet per page, so cards line up when you print double-sided and flip on the short edge. You can also print the grid directly.

Are my decks saved?

Your deck saves automatically in your browser, so it's there when you return. Nothing is uploaded to a server.

Can I print my flashcards?

Yes. Export a printable sheet (index-card style) so you can cut them out and study offline, as well as reviewing them on screen.

Do the flashcards support a study mode?

Yes. Flip through the cards in a study view to test yourself, which pairs well with spaced repetition for memorising vocabulary and facts.
