One icon, every size

Create a favicon from any image or emoji and download every size you need, 16px browser tabs, 180px Apple touch icon, and 192/512px PWA icons, with rounded corners and a background colour.

Modern sites need favicons in several sizes, a tiny 16px icon for browser tabs, a 180px Apple touch icon for iOS home screens, and 192px and 512px icons for Android and PWA manifests. This generator renders your image or emoji to each size on a canvas, so you get crisp icons in one place without design software.

Detailed guide

Emoji favicons in seconds

No logo yet? Pick an emoji, choose a background colour and rounded corners, and you have a distinctive favicon instantly. Prefer your own artwork? Upload a square image and it's scaled to every size. Everything is generated in your browser, so your images never leave your device.

Which favicon sizes you actually need

Modern browsers need far fewer files than older guides suggest. A favicon.ico containing 16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 pixel images covers browser tabs and legacy software. A 180×180 PNG apple-touch-icon is used when someone saves your site to an iPhone or iPad home screen. For Android and installable web apps, add 192×192 and 512×512 PNGs to your web app manifest. An SVG favicon is optional but scales perfectly and can switch colours for dark mode. Place favicon.ico in your site root, since some browsers request it there even without a link tag.

Designing an icon that reads at 16 pixels

A favicon is shown at around 16 pixels in a browser tab, so detail disappears. Use a single bold letter, a simple symbol or your logo mark rather than a full logo with text. Strong contrast and thick shapes survive scaling best; thin lines and gradients turn to blur. Check it against both light and dark browser themes, because a dark icon can vanish on a dark tab bar. Emoji favicons are a quick option for prototypes and personal sites, but they render differently on each operating system, so use a real image for a brand.

Frequently asked questions

What favicon sizes do I need?

At minimum a 32×32 for browser tabs, a 180×180 Apple touch icon for iOS, and 192×192 and 512×512 icons for Android and PWA manifests. This tool exports all of them.

Can I make a favicon from an emoji?

Yes. Switch to emoji mode, type any emoji, pick a background and rounded corners, and download it in every size.

Should the source image be square?

Yes: a square image gives the best result since favicons are square. Non-square images are scaled to fit.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything is rendered locally in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

How do I create a favicon from an image?

Upload a PNG, JPG or SVG (or use text/emoji) and the tool generates favicon.ico plus all the PNG sizes, Apple touch icon and Android icons, with the HTML snippet to paste into your site.

What favicon sizes and files do I need for a website?

You need favicon.ico, 16x16 and 32x32 PNGs, a 180x180 Apple touch icon, and 192/512 Android icons, plus a web manifest. The generator outputs the full package ready to drop in.

Can I make a favicon from text or an emoji?

Yes. Type a letter or paste an emoji, pick colors and shape, and download a complete multi-size favicon set.
