Overview

How the crypto profit calculator works

The tool takes your entry (buy) price, exit (sell) price and position size, then subtracts trading fees on both sides to give net profit and return on investment. Profit is simply your net proceeds minus your total cost; ROI expresses that profit as a percentage of the capital you actually put up. Enter a dollar amount or a coin quantity — the calculator converts between them using your buy price — and it instantly shows profit, ROI, break-even price and total fees paid. Live prices for over 10,000 coins are pulled from CoinGecko so you can model a trade against the real current market in one click.

Why fees and break-even matter more than you think

Every round-trip trade pays a fee twice — once to enter and once to exit — so your true break-even price is always higher than your buy price. A 0.1% maker/taker fee on both sides means the market has to move roughly 0.2% in your favour just to get back to flat, and on high-frequency trades those fees compound fast. This calculator surfaces your exact break-even price and total fees so you never mistake a small green number for real profit when fees have actually eaten it.

Leverage amplifies both directions

Trading on margin or perpetual futures multiplies your position size relative to the capital (margin) you post. A 10× long turns a 5% price move into a 50% return on your margin — but a 10% move against you can wipe the position out entirely. The calculator shows your ROI on margin, the margin required for the position, and an approximate liquidation price so you can size leverage sensibly. These liquidation figures use isolated-margin assumptions and ignore each exchange's maintenance-margin buffer, so treat them as a guide, not a guarantee.

Plan exits with the scenario table

Rather than guessing, use the price-scenario table to see your profit or loss at fixed moves from your entry — from a 50% drawdown to a 3× rally. This turns 'what if it goes up' into concrete dollar figures and helps you set realistic take-profit targets. Pair it with the Crypto Risk/Reward Calculator to check that your upside justifies your downside before you commit capital.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate crypto profit?+

Crypto profit = (sell price − buy price) × quantity, minus trading fees on both trades. This calculator does it for you: enter your buy price, sell price and either your dollar amount or coin quantity, add your fees, and it returns net profit, ROI and your break-even price instantly.

Does this calculator include trading fees?+

Yes. You can set separate buy (entry) and sell (exit) fee percentages to match your exchange's maker/taker tier. Fees are deducted from both sides, and the tool shows total fees paid plus your true fee-adjusted break-even price.

Can it calculate leveraged or futures profit?+

Yes. Drag the leverage slider to model margin or perpetual-futures trades. The calculator shows your ROI on the margin you posted, the required margin, and an approximate liquidation price. Liquidation estimates use isolated-margin assumptions and don't include each exchange's maintenance-margin buffer.

Are the prices real and live?+

Yes. Live prices for over 10,000 coins come from CoinGecko and refresh automatically. You can pull the current price into your buy or sell field with one tap, or type any price manually to model a hypothetical trade.

What is break-even price in crypto?+

It's the sell price at which you neither gain nor lose after fees. Because you pay a fee to buy and again to sell, your break-even price is always slightly above your buy price. The calculator shows it explicitly so you know the minimum exit price to avoid a loss.

Is my data private?+

Completely. All calculations run in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server. Only anonymous public price data is fetched from CoinGecko.
