Final Grade Calculator

Find exactly what score you need on your final to hit your target grade, or add up weighted categories to see your current grade and letter — free, instant, and private.

Two calculators in one. The 'grade needed on final' mode solves for the minimum score you must earn on your final exam to reach a target overall grade, and tells you whether it's even achievable. The 'weighted grade' mode lets you add each category — homework, quizzes, midterm, final — with its score and weight to compute your current standing and letter grade, and shows what happens if remaining work scores zero. Everything runs in your browser.

How to use

How to use Final Grade Calculator

  1. 01

    Choose a mode

Use 'Grade needed on final' to solve for a target, or 'Weighted grade' to total up your categories.

  2. 02

    Enter your numbers

For the solver, enter current grade, target, and the final's weight. For weighted grade, add each category with its score and weight (aim for weights summing to 100%).

  3. 03

    Read the result

See the exact score you need (and whether it's possible), or your current grade, letter, and worst-case projection.

Use cases

Common use cases

  • Working out the score needed on a final to keep an A
  • Checking whether a target grade is still mathematically possible
  • Adding up weighted homework, midterm, and final to see your grade
  • Finding your current letter grade before finals week
  • Planning study time across multiple courses by required score
Overview

Work out the grade you need on the final

Enter your current grade, the weight of the final exam, and your target grade, and see the exact score you need to hit it. Instead of anxiously guessing whether an A is still possible, you get a concrete number to aim for — or clear proof of the maximum grade still on the table.

Plan your study, not just your worry

Because it isolates the final's weight from the rest of your marks, you can see how much one exam can realistically move your overall grade. Try different target grades to find the score that's both worth chasing and actually achievable, then plan revision around that number.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate what I need on my final?+

Use the formula: Required = (Target − Current × (1 − Weight)) ÷ Weight, where Weight is the final's share of your grade as a decimal. This tool does it automatically — enter your current grade, your target, and the final's weight, and it shows the score you need.

What if the required score is over 100%?+

If the calculator returns more than 100%, your target grade is not achievable with this final alone (you'd need extra credit). It will flag this so you can set a realistic target.

Does 'weight' mean the same as the exam's percentage?+

Yes. If your syllabus says the final is worth 30% of your grade, enter 30 as the weight. The rest (70%) is your current grade going into the final.

Is my data saved?+

No. All calculations run locally in your browser and nothing is stored or uploaded.

Does 'weight' mean the exam's percentage of the grade?+

Yes — enter the portion of your total grade the final is worth, such as 30% or 40%.
