How the crypto profit calculator works
The tool takes your entry (buy) price, exit (sell) price and position size, then subtracts trading fees on both sides to give net profit and return on investment. Profit is simply your net proceeds minus your total cost; ROI expresses that profit as a percentage of the capital you actually put up. Enter a dollar amount or a coin quantity — the calculator converts between them using your buy price — and it instantly shows profit, ROI, break-even price and total fees paid. Live prices for over 10,000 coins are pulled from CoinGecko so you can model a trade against the real current market in one click.
Why fees and break-even matter more than you think
Every round-trip trade pays a fee twice — once to enter and once to exit — so your true break-even price is always higher than your buy price. A 0.1% maker/taker fee on both sides means the market has to move roughly 0.2% in your favour just to get back to flat, and on high-frequency trades those fees compound fast. This calculator surfaces your exact break-even price and total fees so you never mistake a small green number for real profit when fees have actually eaten it.
Leverage amplifies both directions
Trading on margin or perpetual futures multiplies your position size relative to the capital (margin) you post. A 10× long turns a 5% price move into a 50% return on your margin — but a 10% move against you can wipe the position out entirely. The calculator shows your ROI on margin, the margin required for the position, and an approximate liquidation price so you can size leverage sensibly. These liquidation figures use isolated-margin assumptions and ignore each exchange's maintenance-margin buffer, so treat them as a guide, not a guarantee.
Plan exits with the scenario table
Rather than guessing, use the price-scenario table to see your profit or loss at fixed moves from your entry — from a 50% drawdown to a 3× rally. This turns 'what if it goes up' into concrete dollar figures and helps you set realistic take-profit targets. Pair it with the Crypto Risk/Reward Calculator to check that your upside justifies your downside before you commit capital.
