Pick one of the curated themes, then fine-tune the colours — water, land, roads, buildings and the paper background — to match your room or gift. Toggle map labels on or off and rotate the map for a dynamic angle.

Because the map is drawn from real vector tiles, you can recolour each feature layer independently: give the water a soft blue, roads a crisp white, land a warm paper tone and buildings a subtle contrast. Add the classic 'CITY • COUNTRY • latitude/longitude' caption block, drop in extra text layers for a date, a message or a name, rotate the map for a dynamic angle, and frame it all with an adjustable margin. Open data, private and free

The tool uses OpenStreetMap data served through OpenFreeMap's free vector tiles and renders everything with MapLibre GL directly in your browser. Location search uses OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service and 'use my location' relies on your browser's own geolocation — coordinates are only used to centre the map, never stored. There are no API keys, no sign-up and no watermark on your poster. Attribution to OpenStreetMap is included on the map, as the open licence requires.

Where does the map data come from?+

Maps use OpenStreetMap data delivered as free vector tiles by OpenFreeMap and rendered with MapLibre GL. Location search uses OpenStreetMap's Nominatim. Attribution to OpenStreetMap is included on the map, as the open licence requires.

Can I recolour individual parts of the map?+

Yes — that's the point. Because the map is vector-based, you can set separate colours for water, land, roads, buildings and labels, plus the paper background and text, for a truly custom look.

What size and resolution can I export?+

Choose from portrait, square, landscape and story sizes including A4, A3 and 18×24 inches, and export at 1×, 2× or 3×. The 3× print option produces a crisp, high-resolution image suitable for framing.

Is my location private?+

Yes. 'Use my location' relies on your browser's own geolocation permission and the coordinates are only used to centre the map — nothing is stored or sent anywhere except the OpenStreetMap search request you trigger.

Can I add my own text to the poster?+

Yes. There's a caption block for the city name, subtitle and coordinates, plus free text layers you can position, rotate, resize and recolour for dates, names or messages.
